While the three-speed gearbox offers great versatility, consider the ease of switching gears under load – practice engaging the removable hex drive handle before you need it in a real situation. Also, the Dacromet coating is excellent for corrosion resistance, but regular rinsing with fresh water after saltwater exposure will extend the winch’s life even further. Remember, a winch is only as strong as the rope and hook, so inspect your low stretch rope and snap hook regularly for wear to avoid surprises when you’re out on the water.
