Boat Hut has access to both genuine and after market impellers for your water, cooling pumps and systems for the following brands: Jabsco, Johnson, Sherwood and TMC.

There are wide range of impeller pumps ranging from centrifugal pumps, oil change pumps, ballast pumps and bilge pumps – but these just names a few. Impellers are made form different compounds to suit different applications. The most common materials are neoprene and nitrile. Neoprene is usually used for water applications and Nitrile is usually used for applications that require oil and fuel resistance, abrasion resistance, and temperature resistance up to 280° F

Centrifugal Pump

Centrifugal pumps are electric pumps where the water is pumped with the help of a wheel, driven by a shaft. It is the most popular and common boat bilge pump, preferred because it can run without water for a long time without damaging the pump.

What is a centrifugal pump?

A centrifugal pump is a mechanical device designed to move a fluid by means of the transfer of rotational energy from one or more driven rotors, called impellers. Fluid enters the rapidly rotating impeller along its axis and is cast out by centrifugal force along its circumference through the impeller’s vane tips. The action of the impeller increases the fluid’s velocity and pressure and also directs it towards the pump outlet. The centifrugal pump casing is specially designed to constrict the fluid from the pump inlet, direct it into the impeller and then slow and control the fluid before discharge.
