Description
Whale Supersub Bilge Pumps – Supersub Family (Narrow Low Profile)
The Whale Supersub range are narrow, low profile bilge pumps designed to fit deep down in small or awkward bilge spaces where other pumps won’t fit.
- Open Flow: 31.5 litres per minute / 502 US gallons per hour (open flow)
- Voltage: 12 Volt / 2.6 Amp
- Outlet Diameter: 19 mm
- Low narrow design: only 54 mm high — ideal for confined bilge spaces
- Installation: Outlet and pump body rotate to suit vertical or horizontal installations
- Performance: Flow up to 1100 US gallons per hour (model dependent)
- Efficiency: Very low power consumption
- Maintenance: Snap-fit assembly for easy cleaning; removable strainer and low profile strainer leaves bilge almost dry
- Hose Connector: Models 131658 / 131660 feature 25/28 mm stepped hose connector
- Non-return valve: Available / recommended options
- Mount screws gauge: 4 mm r/h
Models & Automatic Options
- Supersub 500, 650 and 1100 — standard submersible pumps (note: some model outputs quoted in US gallons per hour)
- Supersub Smart 650 and 1100 — automatic. Solid-state water sensing switch with built-in time delay to avoid nuisance switching from waves.
- Models SS5012, SS5022, SS1012 and SS1024 are NOT automatic. Use with a suitable automatic switch if required.
Optional Extras
- LV1219 Non-Return Valve (recommended for SS5012 models)
- BE9003 / BE9006 Automatic water-activated electronic switch (for use with SS5012, SS5022, SS1012 and SS1024)
- BE9002 Automatic water-activated float switch
- SF5131 3/4” Skin fitting (SS5012, SS5022 and SS5212 models)
- SF5204 1” Skin fitting (SS1012, SS1024, SS1212 and SS1224 models)
Warning: Output specifications are in US gallons per hour (open flow). As with all submersible electrics, ensure wiring connections remain above water level during installation.
The Supersub and Supersub Smart range are designed to pump normal bilge water. Output capacity depends on installation and operating conditions. If used for other liquids, the user must ensure materials are compatible with the liquid in question.
These products must only be used in the bilges of leisure craft. If used as the sole and/or primary bilge pump, the Supersub 500/650/1100 and Supersub Smart 650/1100 pumps are recommended for boats up to 24 metres (78.8 ft).
The bilge water should be evacuated through a correctly installed skin fitting located above the waterline of the boat.

Boat Hut Insight
When fitting a narrow, low-profile pump like the Supersub, think less about raw flow numbers and more about real-world installation height and hose routing. A pump that sits deep and dry often outperforms a higher-capacity pump that’s starved by a long vertical lift or restricted discharge. If you expect moderate water ingress (rain, small leaks), a Supersub Smart model with its time-delay sensing will save battery and avoid cycling from short slugs of water — but if you plan to rely on the pump as your primary safety device, fit a second independent pump or an automatic float switch as redundancy.
Practical tip: fit the non-return valve close to the pump outlet to reduce retained water in the discharge hose and avoid backflow. Also label the pump wiring at both ends and route cables up and out of bilge puddle zones to reduce corrosion and false trips.
