The Standard Portlight sets the benchmark and is used in many of the world’s production sail and power boats. The ease of installation and reliable finish make it popular for fitting into production boats, one off boat builds or as an addition or replacement in an existing boat.

Boat Hut Insight
While the Lewmar Standard Portlight is a solid choice for many boats, consider the direction your boat typically faces when anchored or docked. Installing portlights on the windward side can increase ventilation but also expose the window to more salt spray and potential wear. If you enjoy a fresh breeze but want to minimise maintenance, positioning and regular cleaning routines become key. Also, remember that the aluminium frame’s clean styling pairs well with classic and modern boat designs, so it won’t look out of place even on a custom build.
Tip: When fitting, double-check the thickness of your cabin sides to ensure the clamping mechanism holds securely without warping the frame. This can save you from leaks and rattles later on.
