Seal kit containing quad seal, keyway, helm nut and mount nuts for current BayStar and SeaStar helms, including: 291490, 291492, 291502, 291504, 291506, 291512, 291515, 291516, 291522, 291526, 291540 and 291542.

Now available is a shaft seal service kit suitable for all current SeaStar and BayStar hydraulic helms.

  • 1 X Quad ring Shaft seal

When replacing seals in your hydraulic helm, it’s not just about swapping parts – consider the age and condition of the entire helm assembly. A fresh seal kit can restore smooth operation, but if the helm unit has corrosion or wear beyond the seals, you might face recurring issues. Also, always keep a small tube of marine-grade grease handy when installing seals; it helps the quad ring seat properly and extends seal life. And a tip from experience: if your helm feels “sticky” or stiff, don’t just replace the seals – check the fluid condition and hose integrity too. Sometimes a full hydraulic system flush and hose inspection can save you from future headaches.
